Commonwealth GamesThe Commonwealth Games is the second largest multi-sport event in the world and is open to athletes from the 54 nations that make up the Commonwealth of Nations. The most recent tournament was held in Delhi, India in 2010. It was the first time India had hosted the Commonwealth Games and after a large amount of media scrutiny prior the start of the tournament, the Games managed to run smoothly. In 2014, the next Commonwealth Games will be hosted in Glasgow and it will be Scotland's third time acting as hosts. More information on both tournaments can be found on their designated pages, and for anything prior to 2010 check out the History of the Games The games are directed by the Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF); they are responsible for the control and direction of the Commonwealth Games and decide on the host cities. They also provide education via sports to help improve the well being of the people of the Commonwealth. |
