A wide running shoe is built on a broader last, so there is more room through the forefoot and midfoot, not just at the toes. Most brands label men's wide as 2E and women's wide as D, with some styles in 4E extra wide. If the sides of your shoes feel tight or the upper presses on your little toes, a wide fit is worth trying.
